Rotunda Comedy closes until end of COVID-19 crisis
Rotunda Comedy temporarily closes until who knows when/
No dining, no laughing. No partying… but we will be back.
On Monday 16th March PM Boris Johnson advised against “non-essential contact including trips to pubs, clubs and bars.” He did not ban these events.
As such, venues and promoters, the comics and the venue staff do not have any insurance protection or compensation if they cancel their events. He has left the responsibility and the the liability on us and you.
That was a cowardly decision that will most likely bankrupt the majority of lower paid staff in the hospitality and entertainment industries.
Today we had to tell our teams of amazing comedians and staff that we have no work for them until… June? July? August? who knows.
We are offering all customers booked refunds or two sets of rescheduled tickets for when we reopen.
Also … once the COVID-19 crisis is over we will give an equivalent amount of FREE tickets to front line NHS staff. These people are our heroes. They have had annual leave cancelled and many of them are forgoing their own families to help others.
Stay safe… But make sure you look after your mental health and keep laughing. Hopefully we can keep doing that for you for a long time to come.
